Arcata House is a community based nonprofit agency that was created in 1991. The mission of Arcata House is to support people experiencing homelessness while they build a more stable life, to educate the community about housing issues and to advocate on behalf of homeless people. The vision of Arcata House is a community where everyone has a safe and affordable place to live. Arcata House currently provides transitional housing to families and permanent supportive housing to individuals who are chronically homeless and disabled. Arcata House takes a leadership role in local coalitions that advocate for coordinated services and works closely with the City of Arcata to insure integration of services.

The Humboldt All Faith Partnership operates the Arcata Night Shelter, an emergency shelter for homeless adults. Application for emergency shelter is made one night at a time at the North Coast Resource Center, 501 9th Street in Arcata between 9 and 11 AM Monday-Friday. Maximum capacity is 20 adults. Transportation to and from the shelter is provided; dinner and breakfast is provided. No drugs or alcohol. No cost to shelter guests.

We are here to help ensure that foster and homeless youth receive the full benefits of a free and appropriate public education that all students are entitled to, including preschool programs.
